Thank you. Just thank you. As of this moment, my blog has 1003 followers. 1003 people who have actually requested to be alerted when I write something. I know. It freaks me out as well.
I cannot begin to express how much this means to me. Fifteen months ago I started Capable Fitness as a way to cope with my cancer diagnosis. It has blossomed into so much more. If you hang around my joint, you know that you will find posts about life, cancer, fitness, and family. Some are rants, some are snarky, some are extremely personal.
I sincerely enjoy responding to every comment I get, whether it is right here on my blog, or if you choose to private message me or privately email me. Whether you agree with my point of view or not, the discussions and friendships I have made are a blessing and I’m grateful for it.
Soon I will be making an announcement about an exciting writing opportunity that has come my way. It might never have happened had I not sat down at my computer on November 13th, 2015 and written THIS.
Starting this blog has made me feel fearless and more willing to just take some risks. As it turns out, the risks are not scary. Not scary at all.

I love that the same voice that battled through cancer with big brass balls is the same voice that’s getting me to run my first 10K. You are (by far) one of the biggest inspirations I’ve been blessed to know. I’ve wondered (often) how someone with your elite level of disciplined wellness (for years) EVER got struck with the “c” word but never considered it was genetic. Still, too many of us push those limits by tempting fate with all kinds of shit we should not be doing physically, mentally, or emotionally to ourselves. How amazing it is to have someone like you who’s able to articulate so fantastically how vulnerable and powerful we all are. Please don’t ever stop being you.

Thank you, Julie. Correction, though. I am not getting you to run your first 10k. You are. You chose that. However, I am thrilled to be guiding you and showing you how it is possible. Plus there is the ass kicking. That is free with your program.
Getting cancer is not just for the unfit or the unwell. As you point out, genetics can play a big role. There are things you can do to mitigate that. Bob Harper of the Biggest Loser fame is a recent example of being extremely fit, but still susceptible to a catastrophic health event. I am going to write a post just about that very subject. There are people who might say to themselves, “well if being fit doesn’t keep disease away, then what’s the point? I might as well do nothing.” That would be a mistake. The fitter and healthier you are, the more likely you are to survive a health crisis. http://www.today.com/health/bob-harper-heart-attack-biggest-loser-trainer-mend-t108654
I won’t ever stop being me, so don’t worry. I plan on being even MORE me as the rest of my life unfolds. I hope you do the same. Onwards!

Love it!!! I think there’s bigger things in your future than any of your “army” can think of right now. I am so thrilled to have a seat in your life (however small).

Congratulations on the one thousand followers. I follow your blog because I enjoy what you write. I like your straight forward attitude to things and your no nonsense approach. I know there are things we disagree on, like the usefulness of getting up in the morning, but that is all part of “life’s rich bloody tapestry”. Forward and onward the best is in you x x x
